The Pilots Touring Guide has been compiled by editor and veteran pilot Ian Barraclough. An invaluable resource, it includes over 300 fly-in destinations along some of the most popular tracks taken by touring pilots in Australia. Ian has flown into most of these places, (and I’ve filled in a few gaps!) ranging from towns, station stays and resorts to bush camps.

This 2024 cover shows the final version of the printed edition. Now constantly updated, the digital Guide is included in the Maps section of the premium flight planning app, OzRunways.
You’ll also find it as a download in PDF format on the official PTG website: www.pilotstouringguide.com.au.
Along with the map below, you’ll find airstrip details, suggestions for accommodation with phone numbers, how to get around on the ground, availability of fuel and what’s appealing about the place. In the Introduction section, you’ll also find suggestions on the best times of year to fly in the outback, tips for flying over deserts, radio coverage, and many other hints.
