Welcome to The Lily Dutch Windmill. They never have to ask twice when they offer a fly-in.
A pilot's dream ... one accommodation option is within the beautifully restored Dakota C-47.
Hundreds of loving hours have been poured into the Dakota's restoration.
And please come inside ...
Forward of the bathroom, you can even amuse yourself with the flight sim that Pleun installed on the old instrument panel.
You'll love the feel ... history meets luxury with the coolest result!
Pleun and his wife Hennie have a soft spot for secondhand Volvos. This vintage Volvo 122S was built in 1968, the year they married.
Your aircraft can bed down a few steps from your accommodation.
And the parking comes with a view!
Sundowners on the deck of the Dakota was a given each afternoon.
See, visual evidence for Curtis Aviation that I look after their C182s when I bring them away. Next day, we flew into the hugest swarm of bugs on the planet. Grrrrr.
Pleun offers internal tours of his windmill, sharing some of the intriguing statistics of its construction.
Personally built by your host, Pleun, the Lily Windmill is a fully working authentic 16th Century design mill.
With a sail length of 24.6 metres, this is one of the largest traditional windmills ever built in Australia, and the only one producing flour.
