Kilcowera Station is SO worth a visit. You will be scooped up in the infectious passion for the landscape and wildlife that owners Toni and Greg will share with you during your time here.
We called in for a two-night stay on the return leg of a Cape York air safari we did last year. It was September and so a gorgeous time of year to visit. We were a group of seven but there's plenty of accommodation for up to 17 people in the comfortable Shearers Quarters, where you can either opt for the fully catered package or self-cater.
Your days can be spent self-driving, exploring the property with the use of mud maps and plenty of tips, or else you can sit back and enjoy a guided tour which we did. We loved hearing from Toni how a station of this size works, how they sustain the organic processes they pride themselves on and just what life's like in this superb corner of the Queensland outback.
We particularly loved that Toni, Greg and one or two of the station staff joined us for our evening meal in the Shearers Quarters. For me, that's what travelling around the outback is all about - getting to meet the residents and hearing a point of view out of range of highrise and crowds.
Please enjoy the memories I brought home with me in my photo gallery.
